With a sensitivity to the historic character of the building, Svigals + Partners transformed the Little Theatre into a contemporary environment for the expression of the performing arts. Exposed galvanized mechanical ducts traverse the ceiling, linear LED light fixtures provide a techie look, and colorfully painted concrete block walls give these spaces an edgy dramatic flair.

Inspired by the DeLauro family, an art piece was constructed to evoke how they embraced the New Haven community. Designed by Barry Svigals and the S+P team, the sculpture signifies a family gathering with a central table, three stools representing the DeLauro's, and a bench representing the neighborhood. In addition, a continuous flow of words is engraved around the table relaying the DeLauro's joint spirit of community and service to the citizens

The new buildings elevate a formerly non-descript enclave, providing a reimagined camp experience that connects with Hole in the Wall's mission and identity.

The atrium at University of New Haven’s Bergami Center flows seamlessly from views overlooking the Bartels student union at the north – all the way through the building to the south. It provides a variety of options for student and faculty interaction: studying alone, meeting with a professor in the resource zone, gathering a study group for a spontaneous meeting in breakout spaces at the third floor balcony, or hunkering down in one of six huddle rooms.

Conceived as a sculptural element, the grand staircase connects the two levels of the atrium functionally and gives the space a weighted anchor to contrast with the soaring height of the ceiling – made lighter with the white castellated beams overhead.

Celebrating the one-year anniversary of the iconic bridge, the City of New Britain will be holding its first Beehive Bridge Festival LIVE this evening!
The festival will recall the valuable structural reinforcement of the highway overpass by engineering firm @fandoinc as well as Svigals + Partners’ widely acclaimed public works of art.
With bigger sidewalks, bike lanes and pocket parks, the new bridge instantly created a pedestrian-friendly, active corridor linking residential, business and entertainment districts while fostering a sense of community and civic pride, say local leaders.
