In March of 2020, the New Haven Town Green sent out request for proposals soliciting artists to create murals in Ninth Square District. The objective was to liven the area and reflect what Ninth Square means to its inhabitants. Svigals was selected for the Center Street mural and began painting in early September 2020. The Arts Paper's Lucy Gellman visited the site and interviewed artist Francisco Del Carpio-Beltran and partner of the firm Chris Bockstael to hear what this mural means to the area.
